UHI Helping to Raise Awareness of Gender-based Violence
The motion
That the Parliament applauds UHI on being one of the 17 of Scotland's universities that are collaborating to develop a new online training course to raise awareness of gender-based violence in colleges and universities; understands that the course builds on the work of the Scottish Government's Equally Safe in Higher Education toolkit; notes that it was launched as part of the annual global UN campaign, UNiTE by 2020 to end violence against woman, and hopes that this resource will help develop a greater understanding of how gender-based violence affects people across the wider campus community, including by offering guidance on how to recognise and respond sensitively to a disclosure from a survivor of gender-based violence.
