The motion

That the Parliament recognises that 3 December 2020 is International Day of Persons With Disabilities, which is an annual event that seeks to spread awareness about disability and the issues that disable people face; notes that the theme is, Building back better: towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world; understands that 15% of the world’s population live with a disability and that not all disabilities are visible; notes that the COVID-19 pandemic has led to increased levels of social isolation for disabled people, many of whom have not been able to leave their homes since March; acknowledges that this has had a negative impact on their mental health of many people in Scotland and internationally, and believes that everyone must ensure that disabled people are not left behind during the rest of the pandemic and beyond.
