UNICEF Commends the Maty for its High Level of Care

That the Parliament congratulates NHS Orkney’s maternity unit, known as the ‘maty’, on being commended by UNICEF for its very high standard of care; understands that the maty was recognised for providing a high level of care for pregnant women and their babies in UNICEF’s Baby Friendly accreditation programme; recognises that staff were praised in the assessment for their work and passion for supporting new mothers and their babies to develop close relationships; commends Michelle Mackie, who is the lead midwife at NHS Orkney and her team for their outstanding commitment to provide the highest levels of professional care and support at the maty; believes this prestigious recognition is testament to their willingness to go above and beyond for families across Orkney, and thanks the staff for all their hard work, particularly during such a challenging year.
