Measure 110 Decriminalises Drugs In Oregon

That the Parliament welcomes Measure 110, which is being introduced in Oregon; understands that this legislation effectively decriminalises the possession of all illegal drugs in the state by offering users treatment instead of prison; believes that criminalisation has always been a barrier to people seeking treatment; understands that, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of overdoses in Oregon had increased by 70; believes that the approach to drugs in the United States has disproportionately imprisoned BAME people, and considers that decriminalisation, and having a positive public health-based approach based on a variety of treatment options, such as that in Oregon, are important steps towards helping users recover and in tackling health inequalities in the United States.
