Tesco Fire and Rehire

That the Parliament notes with concern reports that Tesco continues to pursue a so-called "fire and rehire" policy at its distribution centre in Livingston; considers that retail workers, including those in Tesco distribution centres, have worked tirelessly to keep the country fed during the pandemic, while putting their own lives and their families' lives at risk; understands that Tesco is proceeding with face-to-face meetings with employees to discuss their proposal; further understands that the company is bringing staff in from across Scotland, and from England, to conduct these meetings; believes that this cannot be deemed as essential travel during the current COVID-19 restrictions, and urges Tesco once again to withdraw its proposals and cancel its plans for face-to-face meetings, which it believes could put staff at further risk.
