Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month 2021
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the annual Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, which runs throughout March 2021; understands that many ovarian cancer charities come together for this event, including The Eve Appeal, Ovacome, Target Ovarian Cancer, Ovarian Cancer Action; acknowledges that it gives everyone an opportunity to work together to ensure that women and GPs are more aware of the symptoms and the vital importance of early diagnosis; believes that over a quarter of women are diagnosed through emergency presentation, which means that they find about the condition very late; understands that this can lead to more invasive treatment and lower survival chances; notes that, although this figure is falling, as a result of the fantastic work that has already been done, it is still unacceptably high, and commends the sterling work of everyone involved with the event.
