The motion

That the Parliament commends all of the communities, families, schools, workplaces, organisations and people celebrating International Women’s Day across Scotland; acknowledges the progress made in achieving women’s equality, but recognises growing concern about the longer term, especially as the impact of COVID-19 becomes clearer; renews its commitment to the International Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Discrimination Against Women and the European Convention of Human Rights as the frameworks for taking positive action; highlights the evidence emerging of an increase in violence against women and girls during the pandemic; reasserts the importance of the framework set by the Equality Act 2010, which gives women the right to single-sex spaces where appropriate, and commits to continuing to support women in being able to contribute to public life in Scotland without fear of bullying or harassment.
