The motion

That the Parliament commends what it sees as Cuba’s impressive response to the COVID-19 pandemic by reportedly maintaining relatively low rates of positivity; applauds the assistance given by its medical teams throughout the pandemic across Latin America, Africa and Europe; notes that some of the teams were made up solely of female medical staff; understands that international travellers returning to Cuba and their resident families are given immunoprotecting Nasalferon, which has reportedly been proven to prevent the development of severe symptoms; considers that this treatment would be a benefit to family members returning to Scotland and may allow them to isolate at home; believes that the United States’ ongoing trade embargo is unfair and is continuing to have damaging effects on Cuba, and hopes that the new US administration will start to build bridges and lift the embargo to allow for economic progression in Cuba and for the enhancement of the lives of its people.
