Walk to School Week 2021
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes Living Streets’ Walk to School Week, which runs from 17 to 21 May 2021; congratulates all of the schools across Scotland that are participating in the event, which aims to highlight the benefits of walking, including how this reduces both congestion and air pollution near school gates, cuts carbon emissions and increases physical activity for young people and their parents; recognises what it sees as the importance of school street closures and investing in behaviour change programmes, such as Living Streets’ WOW Walk to School programme, and calls on the Scottish Government to support parents and pupils to make sustainable travel choices as schools recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
