Dumfries and Galloway Participatory Budgeting

The motion

That the Parliament notes the success of the Dumfries and Galloway Council participatory budgeting process, which has allowed members of the community across the Nithsdale area of Dumfries and Galloway to determine which local causes were able to receive financial support from the Council; notes that, across the Nithsdale area of Dumfries, fantastic local groups received vital support; understands that these groups include the Summerhill Community Centre (awarded £12,000), Lochside is Families Together (awarded £10,655), the Food Train (£8,154), the Community Shop in Dumfries (awarded £15,000), the Lochside Community Association (awarded £15,000), the River of Life Church (awarded £12,000) and Let’s Get Sporty Dumfries and Galloway (awarded £1,868); congratulates all of the community groups who have received support and thanks members of the community for playing their part in the democratic process of awarding funding, and wishes all of the groups every success for the future.
