Dalziel Rugby Club Help Local Gardening Initiative

Lodged by Clare Adamson (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 14 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament recognises that members of the Dalziel Rugby Club in Motherwell have teamed up to help with a local gardening initiative; understands that members of the club joined forces with Community Learning and Development, the Clydesdale Community Initiative, Motherwell South Church and local schools to transform a community garden into a space that is designed to be utilised by individuals to help them to reconnect with nature and support their mental wellbeing, as well as to serve as a safe space for people with dementia; recognises that the club’s efforts followed on from a range of mental wellbeing workshops that it recently hosted, including its contribution to the Time to Talk event organised by See Me Scotland that was held in February 2020 as part of its programme to end mental health discrimination, and which has the mission to encourage the community to talk more openly about mental health, and thanks Dalziel Rugby Club and others for their efforts in the renovation of this much-loved community asset.
