Motherwell Players Help Launch New Suicide Prevention App

The motion

That the Parliament recognises that Motherwell Football Club has worked in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council and South Lanarkshire Council in an initiative to prevent suicide across Lanarkshire; understands that the Steelmen helped launch a new smartphone app, which provides practical support for individuals who are having suicidal thoughts, or those who may know someone who is; notes that the Suicide Prevention in Lanarkshire app is packed with useful information to help keep people safe and provide guidance on how to look out for others they may be concerned about; recognises that, included in the app are details about training and awareness sessions, facts and myths about suicide, advice on how to start a conversation about suicide and details of crucial support helplines; notes that Motherwell FC  is a long-standing partner of Suicide Prevention North Lanarkshire, and that its players have taken the lead in raising awareness and were the first to download the app, and thanks Motherwell FC for its continued dedication to spreading awareness of, and tackling, suicide head on across Motherwell and Wishaw and beyond.
