Green Gown Awards International 2021

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Dumfries and Galloway College on having been selected to become a finalist in the prestigious Green Gown Awards International 2021 competition, which is supported by the UN environmental programme, the Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities; recognises that the further education institution, based in Dumfries and Stranraer, is now a leading voice in training to help tackle climate change and provides valuable training to create a workforce with skills capable of meeting future jobs demand within the green sector; notes that this latest achievement is testament to its approach towards sustainability and educating young people towards adopting an innovative and collaborative approach in creating a net zero society, as part of its drive to become a sustainable establishment, and wishes the college every success when it competes against 51 finalists from 23 countries across the world on 7 July.
