Inverclyde Council to Invest £4 Million to Boost Post-pandemic Recovery
The motion
That the Parliament commends Inverclyde Council for investing £4 million to help boost COVID-19 recovery across the district; understands that the funding includes extra support for business and town centres, extra funding for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, increased marketing for Inverclyde, boosting access to sports and fitness activities, and earlier implementation of universal primary four to seven free school meals; notes that around £350,000 is also earmarked for a large festival of the outdoors in summer 2022, in conjunction with Inverclyde Leisure; appreciates that the investment is on top of £6 million for the Inverclyde Works jobs and employability programme; welcomes Inverclyde Council’s plans to support wider recovery from the pandemic, and trusts that this investment will be welcomed by local businesses and residents.
