World Milk Day
The motion
That the Parliament notes that 1 June 2021 is World Milk Day, which was established by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in 2001; recognises the importance of milk as a global food and that it supports the livelihoods of one billion people around the world; acknowledges that this year the focus is on sustainability, centred around the environment, nutrition and socioeconomics; notes that the gap between the lowest and highest paid dairy farmers is now vast and has been exacerbated by the significant economic impacts faced by farmers, and accepts that consumer support is key for the expansion of this important industry.
