Ayr SRUC Students Triumph in UK Farming Competition

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Debbie Dawkins and Olivia Kelly from Ayr, who were part of a team from Scotland’s Rural Agricultural College (SRUC) that won the Institute of Agricultural Management’s Farm Planner Competition; notes that previously contestants from Scotland were unable to enter, but that as the competition was online this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team, including three other SRUC students from the Aberdeen campus, were able to enter and win; understands that the competition required contestants to come up with a proposal about how to improve the business of a farm in England; appreciates that both Debbie and Olivia study Rural Business Management at the SRUC’s Riverside campus in Ayr, and commends the excellent achievement by the team of students, as well as all the excellent work that SRUC does to promote a love of the countryside and provide education in rural affairs.
