Gourock Primary Awarded Fourth Eco Flag

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Gourock Primary School on achieving its fourth eco flag; commends the school’s eco-committee, made up of pupils from each year group, who have been working to come up with ways to help the environment and tend to the school grounds; recognises that the group organised a harvest festival, where pupils collected food to distribute to people in the community, and that it started a litter pick rota to keep the playground free of litter; notes that pupils recorded the type of litter they found and the amount collected, to find out if extra bins were required in the playground; understands that pupils have also been planting fruit and vegetables outside, with the help of the Inverclyde Shed, and have drawn up a rota to ensure that the crop is cared for properly; believes that projects like this help children learn about the environment and how to reduce the impact they have on the planet, and wishes the eco-committee all the best as it continues to help the school become more eco-friendly.
