The motion

That the Parliament recognises the role being played by Dumfries and Galloway College in encouraging more students and school pupils to learn about green skills development to help tackle climate change, thanks to a broad range of new courses being offered at its Green Skills Academy, based in Dumfries; understands that the courses provide the skills, knowledge and practical experiences to allow young people to gain qualifications in traditional subjects, as well as to focus on care, enterprise and digital development; acknowledges that the courses offer first class research and innovation to promote a green approach in education, research and business, as well as to devise, develop and distribute the skills necessary to operate the technology that will ensure a greener, cleaner, and better future for all; notes that the college plans to further develop the curriculum and other aspects within areas of green energy, sustainable construction, and green transportation, to help students further maximise their potential in these key areas, and wishes the lecturers, students and pupils every success in the future, while acknowledging that after attending the college, 96% of students go into a positive destination, 25% of which go into employment with 70% going entering further studies.
