The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the introduction of the Herbert Protocol to the Lothians and Scottish Borders; notes that it is named after George Herbert, a Normandy landings' veteran, who lived with dementia and died in 2011 after going missing whilst looking for his childhood home; understands that this well-established protocol is now available to everyone registered with adult care services in the Lothian and Borders; notes that it involves the completion of a form with key information, such as a recent photograph, contact details, habits and significant locations, which can then be provided to police officers and used to save vital time in a missing person inquiry, and believes this to be a positive step and one that will provide reassurance to families of people living with dementia.
