Recognition of HV Hoy Head Crew for Saving Two Lives

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the heroic efforts of the Orkney Ferries' MV Hoy Head crew, in saving two lives on Thursday 3 June; understands that the ferry crew spotted two people in the water while passing a yacht en route between Lyness and Flotta; notes that the Skipper, Sean Budge, ordered the immediate launch of the rescue boat to recover both persons; further recognises the roles of a local nurse who was fortunately aboard the Hoy Head, and was able to assist and assess the conditions of those involved, and of the ferry chef, Richard Moar, who helped to recover and take the yacht to safe harbour in Flotta; acknowledges that all involved are safe and well, and pays tribute to the quick-thinking of those aboard the Hoy Head for their prompt action, that unquestionably saved those in distress.
