The motion

That the Parliament commends the University of Edinburgh for contributing £1 million towards part-funding a £5 million investment into Simon Community Scotland, an award-winning charity that helps people who are experiencing homelessness, or are at risk of homelessness; understands that Simon Community Scotland will use the investment to expand its services and buy properties that will become permanent homes for up to 30 tenants, helping them to transition from homelessness towards employment and a new life; appreciates that social investment was one of the 32 commitments in the University of Edinburgh’s Community Plan, launched last year, and is a key part of their renewed focus on social and civic responsibility, and recognises the positive impact that the University of Edinburgh is making to local communities.
