Clean Air Day - 17 June 2021
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the importance of active travel and public transport on Clean Air Day, which takes place on 17 June 2021; welcomes recent Scottish Government funding for new bus technology to reduce the impact of climate change and decarbonise transport; highlights the recent announcement by First Bus of the transformation of its Glasgow Caledonia bus depot into Scotland’s and the UK’s largest Electric Vehicle (EV) charging hub; understands that, once completed, the hub will have space to charge up to 300 electric buses on site; further notes the company’s partnership with Aberdeen City Council, which launched 15 new hydrogen powered double-decker buses earlier this year, and considers that the hydrogen buses and new Glasgow electric vehicles represent a major step forward to meeting Scotland’s Net Zero targets.
