The motion

That the Parliament congratulates fundraisers in Orkney and Shetland on raising over £20,000 for the MS Trust; notes that this tremendous achievement has been reached at the halfway stage of a 100-day campaign challenge; understands that those involved in Orkney and Shetland have been battling it out to raise the most funds for the past seven weeks in the "Mission 100" challenge; pays tribute to the organisers, Hayley Budge from Orkney and Amy Uren from Shetland, for their commendable efforts as stalwarts for MS awareness in the Northern Isles; recognises the exceptional enthusiasm of Orkney's fundraisers, including Hamish Fleet, aged nine, who has raised over £1,000 with a sponsored cycle, and Edna Jenkinson, aged 92, for her hand-painted stone designs; highlights that Orkney and Shetland have a particularly high prevalence of MS, with Orkney found to have the highest rate in the world in 2012; acknowledges the work of the MS Society Orkney Group in providing invaluable support to those affected by MS and in raising awareness among the community; thanks everyone who has fundraised or donated to the ongoing Mission 100; notes that there is a dedicated Facebook page, Mission:100 Orkney vs Shetland, for anyone interested in donating, and wishes all the very best of success for the next leg of the fundraiser.
