St Magnus International Music Festival 2021

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the start of the St Magnus International Music Festival 2021, which runs from 18 to 23 June; recognises the return of this internationally-renowned festival after its cancellation last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that the festival will use primarily outdoor venues across Orkney’s wonderful landscape, bringing artists and audiences back together to rediscover the joy of live performances at midsummer; notes that, in addition to live performances, the festival is offering a range of online content filmed in venues across Orkney during May and June; highlights the involvement of many local charities and organisations in a festival that has celebrated the exceptional arts and cultural life in Orkney since 1977; congratulates the hard work of the festival organisers in pulling together the 2021 schedule in the context of tight COVID-19 restrictions, and wishes everyone involved a successful festival.
