Glasgow Recovery Plan
The motion
That the Parliament recognises what it sees as the vast economic and cultural contribution that Glasgow makes to Scotland; understands that the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting restrictions on daily life and business have had a devastating impact on businesses in the city; believes that the restrictions on pubs, nightclubs and music venues have put at risk the long-term sustainability of sectors and musicians who have contributed so much to make Glasgow a UNESCO world city of music; understands that taxi drivers, retail businesses, the hospitality sector, the aviation industry, musicians, soft play centres and many others have all expressed serious concerns about their ability to retain jobs or remain in business without more government support; fears that tens of thousands of jobs within the city and the greater Glasgow area are at risk unless there is serious political will and a concerted effort to save them, and notes the view that the Scottish Government should work on a cross-party basis and consult widely with business, trade unions and civic institutions on creating a specific Glasgow recovery plan.
