Solidarity with Aberdeen Housing Services' Workers
The motion
That the Parliament expresses its support for, and extends its solidarity to, the housing services' workers who are in dispute with their employer, Aberdeen City Council, about workload and the potential merger of roles, and who have warned that they have reached "breaking point"; recognises what it sees as the consistent hard work and resilience of the workforce throughout the COVID-19 pandemic; thanks Unite the Union for its work to support the workers; understands the concerns of the workers that plans to combine housing officer and support officer roles into one post would provide a poorer service; believes that cuts to the housing support service, along with greater pressures on the workforce due to a rise in housing arrears and homeless figures in the local authority area, are damaging work morale, and calls on Aberdeen City Council to engage with the workers and their trade union representatives to resolve the dispute.
