Motion · S6M-00494 · 23 Jun 2021
Stop the Privatisation of Channel 4
The motion
That the Parliament believes that Channel 4 should remain publicly owned; considers that the UK Government should halt its reported proposed sell-off of the public broadcaster; notes with concern reports of the warning from the Channel 4 chairman, Charles Gurussa, that “big American conglomerates” would be among the potential buyers if the broadcaster was privatised, and welcomes the campaign and petition by the Co-operative Party to prevent any future privatisation by making Channel 4 mutually owned by the public.
