Partick Thistle Football Club's Welcome Return to Scottish Championship

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Partick Thistle FC on its welcome return to the Scottish Championship after being crowned champions of League One; notes that its league triumph was achieved in some style with a 5-0 win over Falkirk on 29 April 2021; commends the hard work of the manager, Ian McCall, and the dedication of all the club’s players, coaches and staff in securing this well-deserved promotion; recognises the economic, social and cultural contribution that the club has made, and continues to make, across the Glasgow Kelvin constituency, particularly in providing a family-friendly atmosphere at its games and, through the significant work of the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust, delivering tens of thousands of free meals to some of the most vulnerable members of the local community during the COVID-19 pandemic; notes that Thistle will kick off its league season on 31 July 2021 with a home fixture at Firhill against Queen of the South FC, and wishes Thistle every success in the coming season in the Scottish Championship.
