Rail Safety Week
The motion
That the Parliament notes that 21 to 28 June 2021 is Rail Safety Week, an industry-wide initiative to encourage safe use of the railway, raise the profile of safety messages and prevent accidents and fatalities on rail infrastructure; welcomes Scotland’s Railway’s collaborative approach to rail safety through working with the British Transport Police, the Scottish Football Association and other community organisations; further notes that 129 schools across Scotland that are located close to railway lines have been provided with information and resources to support the safe use of the railway; is aware that, due to COVID-19 restrictions, a full programme of in-person engagement has sadly not been possible this year, and commends Scotland’s Railway for its commitment to educating and informing people, especially young people, about the importance of staying safe when on or near the railway.
