Greenock’s New Zero Waste Store
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the opening of a new zero waste shop in Greenock to encourage shoppers to ditch plastic; notes that InverEco is now serving shoppers a wide range of foods that can be weighed and packed into their containers, saving a huge amount of packaging and waste; understands that the business offers refills of dried food items including nuts, seeds, teas, coffee beans, herbs, spices, baking sundries, toiletries, kitchen goods and household cleaning items; commends Inverkip resident, Gillian Bott, for launching the store, having taken inspiration from other refill shops across the UK; recognises that InverEco is working alongside a variety of national independent suppliers and producers, with its range growing each week, following feedback from customers; believes that the store will help consumers to cut down on their use of single-use plastics, as well as helping to reduce food waste by allowing customers to buy only what they need, and hopes that more refill stores will open up across Scotland to help us all live a more eco-friendly life.
