Stranraer's Gateway to Galloway Set to Open
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Stranraer Development Trust on its work in preparing a new tourist information centre, Stranraer’s Gateway to Galloway, which is set to open on 2 July 2021; notes that the new centre, which is the culmination of three years of planning by the Trust, takes over the striking art deco clock tower and former harbour master building, recently refurbished by Dumfries and Galloway Council, on the waterfront, and is part of the Development Trust’s wider vision to redefine Stranraer as a waterfront destination; understands that the goal of Gateway to Galloway is to establish a tourism focal point for visitors to the town that will showcase the wealth of things to do and experience in Stranraer, the Rhins and the wider Galloway area, and that the information centre will also promote local businesses, produce and crafts, as well as providing volunteering opportunities and space for community groups to showcase their activities; welcomes this important initiative for the town of Stranraer, and wider Galloway, and thanks all members of the development trust and wider community for their efforts.
