The motion
That the Parliament notes that the 50th anniversary of Scottish Literature becoming an academic unit at the University of Glasgow falls in 2021; acknowledges the huge contribution that the university's staff have made to the study of the writing of Scotland by students from the UK, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, the United States and many other countries, as well as the work that the university does, through the Centre for Robert Burns Studies, to promote and develop an understanding of Burns globally, his value to the Scottish economy and to regional growth and development, and congratulates the university's staff and supporters, including major international donors, on the work they have done to increase the recognition of the value of Scottish culture and literature worldwide, including founding the International Association for the Study of Scottish Literatures and acting as a host to the Association for Scottish Literary Studies.
