The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Eilidh Cursiter, Gabrielle Shoesmith and Zara Johnston, who are pupils at Stromness Academy, on securing a £3,000 donation to the Orkney Drugs Dog Charity; recognises that the trio were named winners in this year’s Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI); notes that the YPI is a citizenship programme, which was founded in 2008 by the Wood Foundation, aims to empower young people to make a difference in their communities while developing a range of skills; understands that pupils at Stromness Academy have been working in teams since the start of 2021 researching local social issues and preparing a presentation on a community charity of their choice; acknowledges that the donation will go toward the sourcing and training of an additional drugs detection dog in Orkney that will work alongside, Zoe, a labrador that has been in post since 2019; thanks the Orkney drugs detection dog handler, Kevin Moar, and the charity's chairman, Andrew Drever, for their contribution to community safety and drugs prevention, and applauds Eilidh, Gabrielle and Zara on their achievement.
