The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Tweedsmuir Community Company on its persistent fundraising since agreeing a deal to take over The Crook Inn site at Tweedsmuir in 2012; notes that, since its closure in 2006, The Crook Inn, which was built in 1604, has been the subject of a lengthy campaign by the community to bring it back into use to benefit the local area, rather than private development; welcomes the imminent commencement of work on phase one, which will see work begin on "The Wee Crook", a licensed bistro that will hopefully open in early 2022, with the second phase of the development of a new bunkhouse behind the inn, to provide accommodation for tourists, and the final phase to restore the inn itself; believes that this development will bring real benefit to the local area; thanks all those involved in the long-running campaign for their hard work and commitment in getting to this stage, and recognises the determination and staying power of this small community to bring this historic inn back to life.
