Gaby Williamson - Let's Blether
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the incredibly brave work of Gaby Williamson from Ayr; understands that Gaby's father, Kevin Williamson, died from cancer in 2020 and that she has set up a support blog, Let's Blether, on Instagram to help many other young people going through similar grief; highlights that Gaby has already received recognition from the First Minster and The Queen for her work, and that she is working with South Ayrshire Council on "Blether Boxes," which are boxes for primary school children who have experienced loss, notes that the box includes a reversible octopus emotion toy, a journal, colouring in materials, a grief directory and access to a pen pal system, to allow young people to connect with other children with similar experiences for support; acknowledges that Gaby is now embarking on a mission to fundraise £200,000 for Worldwide Cancer Research to be able to fund an entire research project in her father's name; commends Gaby on all her outstanding, positive work on the back of a great personal loss, and wishes her all the best.
