Lodged by Clare Adamson (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 16 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament recognises Motherwell Football Club, which is launching its Well In initiative, providing free season tickets to unemployed people and low-income families in the area; notes that the club is committed to improving people’s lives where it possibly can, with a belief that by removing the financial barrier to attending football matches it is giving people the lifeline of a network and an escape every fortnight at Fir Park, which could make the world of difference to their wellbeing and mental health; applauds Motherwell Football Club for diligently recognising that, beyond the challenges of COVID-19, local people have suffered from high rates of unemployment and deprivation, and commends it for acting on that, by helping those most affected to be part of the community spirit and friendship that Fir Park brings; recognises that Motherwell Football Club is committed to ensuring no-one in the Motherwell area is left behind, as well as ensuring that the mental wellbeing of local people is front and centre to the club’s actions; wishes Motherwell Football Club all the best for the future, and congratulates it on the fantastic initiative.
