Congratulations MYPAS
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Midlothian Young People’s Advice Service (MYPAS), which has been active for over 20 years, on its success in winning the Midlothian Council tender, worth over £750,000, to deliver school counselling services in every primary and high school across Midlothian following a successful nine-month pilot project; understands that this service will be available to all children and young people aged 10 to 18, who live, or attend education, in Midlothian, with a view to making it quicker and easier for children and young people to access mental-health support at an early stage; notes that this funding is part of the Scottish Government’s 2018 commitment to provide £60 million in additional school-counselling services across Scotland over four years, and believes that this project will enable MYPAS to build on its excellent record of supporting young people in Midlothian and will make a real, positive difference to the mental health and wellbeing of all those now able to access its services.
