Motherwell FC Wear Suicide Prevention Branding

The motion

That the Parliament commends Motherwell FC, whose players will wear Suicide Prevention North Lanarkshire branding on their sleeves throughout the 2021-22 season; understands that the club will also be displaying helpline information around Fir Park, and that this is part of an ongoing campaign, in response to reports that almost one person every week is dying by suicide in North Lanarkshire; further understands that the campaign aims to raise awareness of mental ill-health and suicide, and to help prevent such tragedies in the future; recognises that the emotional impact on families, friends and communities bereaved by suicide is devastating; further commends Motherwell FC for taking another step to improve mental health and wellbeing in Motherwell, and the wider North Lanarkshire area, and wishes the club all the best for the future.
