Announcement of Challenge Poverty Week 2021
The motion
That the Parliament considers that it is a shared responsibility to tackle persisting poverty and to create a more fair, just and equal Scotland, where everyone has a decent standard of living and the same chances in life; believes that, to end poverty, further work must be done to end the stigma regarding living on a low income, and to build extensive, well-funded public services and robust employment rights protections; welcomes the announcement of the dates for Challenge Poverty Week 2021 by the Poverty Alliance, which is due to take place from 4 to 10 October, and aims to show what is being done to tackle poverty across Scotland; encourages civic society organisations, businesses and employers to get involved with Challenge Poverty Week 2021, and calls on the Scottish Government to engage with the work of the Poverty Alliance and lead a nationwide conversation on how to end poverty and inequality in Scotland.
