Urgent Action Required to Close the Attainment Gap
The motion
That the Parliament understands with concern that just 14.4% of soon-to-be students will come from the poorest areas of Scotland; believes that this is the lowest that this figure has been since 2016; understands that the narrowing of curriculum choice might be greater in schools in the most deprived areas; affirms that closing the attainment gap and raising standards for all must remain the top priority for the education system, and calls for urgent action from the Scottish Government on this issue.
