Success for Laura Muir at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the achievements of Inverness-born Laura Muir in winning a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games; understands that Laura secured her first Olympic medal by winning silver in the 1500m, having come seventh at Rio 2016, and that this is the first time a female Scottish athlete has won a track and field Olympic medal since 1988; acknowledges that she set a new British record for the 1500m with a time of 3:54.50, and commends her dedication to inspiring children in Scotland to follow in her footsteps and get involved in sport.
