The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the Picturing Our Past project, which is being run by the social enterprise, Inclusive Images, and led by Charlie Eleftheriades-Sherry, which works with disabled people; understands that the project, which was awarded £99,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund, will work with 11 community-based organisations from socially-deprived areas across the west of Scotland over a three-year period, starting in September 2021, and aims to encourage those who have had little or no opportunity to appreciate the history and heritage of Scotland, to gain a better understanding of where they are from, and who they are; notes that this will be done using a mix of participatory photography workshops and historical photo walks, including visits to places of local historic interest and iconic sites that have been the setting for what it sees as some of the most pivotal events that have forged the nation, while urging participants to think about, and photograph, the heritage and history of their local communities; further understands that Inclusive Images was established in 2016 to run community action and community voice workshops that help groups and individuals share stories through the medium of photography by providing people with basic skills and equipment to turn photos into campaign and promotional materials and end-of-project exhibitions, and has facilitated over 40 successful participatory photography projects so far, and wishes them all the best for their upcoming project.
