Lodged by Marie McNair (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 17 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends community group, Milngavie in Bloom, which was established in 2008 by a group of local residents who wanted to make a significant difference to the area through greenery and clean ups; understands that the group, which was awarded a Gold Medal Certificate in 2019, was set up to help improve Milngavie town centre by planting beautiful flowers across the neighbourhood; notes that, over the years, their work has expanded from their initial work in the precinct and at Milngavie railway station to include the Antonine Garden, Milngavie Town Hall and Lillie Art Gallery, the start of the West Highland Way, with the assistance of the Bearsden & Milngavie Ramblers, and the Allander Walkway, as well as helping out at the sheltered housing on Park Road; recognises the impact that their work has had on the community, as they have assisted Mugdock rangers to tackle invasive non-native plant species on Barloch Moor, Friends of Milngavie Reservoir to prune climbing roses at the reservoir, and Baldernock Gardening Club volunteers to restore the gardens at Gavin’s Mill, and applauds the brilliant volunteers for all that they do.
