Supporting Glasgow's Binmen
The motion
That the Parliament notes the reported comments from the GMB union indicating that binmen in Glasgow are considering strike action following a number of rat attacks on workers; believes that this is indicative of a worrying decline in cleanliness across much of Glasgow; considers that refuse collection and the cleanliness of the city are important responsibilities of Glasgow City Council and serious public health issues, and considers that upholding the cleanliness standards in a city as large and significant as Glasgow cannot be left to the public and that appropriate investment must be made by the local authority to employ the staff needed to maintain the necessary levels of hygiene and tidiness in public spaces.
