Funeral Link

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the important work of the Dundee-based charity, Funeral Link, in helping to alleviate funeral poverty; understands that the charity, which was founded in November 2018, supported more than 90 bereaved individuals in the 2019-20 period alone and saved dozens of families more than £70,000; welcomes its work in raising awareness of funeral poverty and breaking down barriers to enable a dialogue on what is a difficult subject for many; further welcomes the charity’s efforts to deliver information on the subject of funeral poverty, which has so far reached more than 700 people; notes that it has developed strong working relationships with partners in the community, such as the NHS, social work, faith groups, other third sector partners and funeral directors; further notes the contribution that Funeral Link has made to sector-relevant research by the universities of Abertay and Exeter and other institutions, and commends the staff at Funeral Link for their continuing dedication and support for the most vulnerable in society.
