The motion
That the Parliament congratulates John Dyer, director of rugby at Greenock Wanderers RFC, on receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Scottish Rugby South Community Awards; understands that John has ploughed a lifetime of experience into the grassroots game and has now been involved in the sport for over 60 years; notes that the 78-year-old, who started playing rugby in school, has had a number of key roles at Fort Matilda over the years, including president, captain and secretary; understands that John played an important role in helping the Wanderers establish their £1m state-of-the-art clubhouse facility, and that, in addition to his work at the club, which included recently appointing a mental wellbeing officer to help support players, John plays a key role in the wider Scotland rugby scene; thanks John for his commitment to the game, and wishes him and Greenock Wanderers RFC all the best for the future.
