Orkney Teacher, Theo Ogbhemhe. Earns the First Saroj Lal Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Theo Ogbhemhe on being awarded the first Saroj Lal for a Pioneering Spirit in Equality and Diversity award by the General Teaching Council for Scotland; acknowledges that Theo, an RMPS teacher at Kirkwall Grammar School in Orkney, achieved the award for going above and beyond in his efforts to fight for the cause of equality and diversity; understands that the award is dedicated to Saroj Lal, who was a trailblazing teacher and campaigner in Scottish race relations; recognises that Theo is a popular, valued and well-respected teacher in Orkney who has been an active community campaigner on the issues of poverty, inequality and fair trade, and congratulates Theo on this significant and well-deserved achievement.
