The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges Youth Mental Health Day 2021; understands that research carried out by the charity, See Me, showed that 72% of young people in Scotland have struggled with their mental health; further understands that the past year has seen countless decisions made on behalf of young people without their input as the world emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic; notes that the awareness day will focus on how young people can #StrideForward with their mental health; further notes that the aim is to encourage understanding and discussion of mental health in young people, enabling them to live happy and healthy lives all year round; understands that, each year, the aim is to encourage young people, and those who support them, to talk about how to improve mental health, and welcomes that, by getting young people engaged in discussions and activities about how to improve their mental health, the awareness day will help to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and tackle the heart of the issue.
