The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Garnethill Park on celebrating its 30th anniversary; notes that the public park, which is on the edge of Glasgow's city centre, was designed by Dieter Magnus; understands that the plans were gifted by the Goethe-Institut during the city's year as the European Capital of Culture in 1990; notes the memorable features of the design that includes a watercourse, a cobbled pyramid, and an amphitheatre designed for community gatherings; further notes that the park was opened by the then Lord Provost, Susan Baird; welcomes that the community resource has been a firm fixture for the local community that includes residents, primary children, and the eclectic student body of the Glasgow School of Art; acknowledges the importance of the park during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering a tranquil green space for residents in Glasgow City Centre; understands that Garnethill Park was recently chosen as Scotland's first Quiet Urban Area and believes this demonstrates the three decades of tranquillity enjoyed by local residents and visitors alike, which continues today, and hopes that this fantastic resource continues to provide the local community with a space for relaxation and celebration for many years to come.
