Celebrating Orkney Viking Week

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the second Orkney Viking Week, which runs from 9 to 19 September 2021; understands that it is organised by Orkney Time Travel and Orkney Archaeology Society to celebrate the Norse heritage of the islands; notes that it features a programme of online talks and face-to-face outdoor tours and events across Orkney; recognises the wealth of Viking heritage in Orkney, which remains immensely prominent in the islands, both through a host of well-preserved archaeological sites and the vibrant cultural life enjoyed year-round by Orcadians and visitors alike; congratulates the organisers of the Week on its second year, and wishes all participants an enjoyable experience.
